Parahockey

FIH’s vision is to offer any athlete with a Disability the chance to play hockey, have fun, develop their skills and improve their health and wellbeing.

Parahockey is our global term for hockey formats designed specifically to support individuals with an impairment, including Intellectual, Physical, Visual and Wheelchair based. Due to resource constraints, the FIH is currently focused on Hockey ID (Intellectual Disabilities) as a key project area.

Hockey ID has been designed to allow nations, clubs and other groups to develop the sport and play either friendly festivals or competitive tournaments locally or internationally.

In 2023, Hockey ID was introduced into the Special Olympic World Games in Berlin - https://www.berlin2023.org/en/sports/hockey
