FIH More Places to Play (Hockey5s Courts)
The FIH is pleased to announce the opening of the application period for the 2024 FIH More Places to Play Hockey5s Court provision.
To apply for a More Places to Play Hockey5s Court, Applicant NAs must submit the following documentation to FIH:
• a fully and duly completed and signed application questionnaire,
• all required supporting documentation, and
• a MoU signed by authorised representatives of the NA and the relevant CF.
One of the main inhibitors for the growth of the sport of hockey is the high initial investment cost to have a hockey turf available. Many smaller NAs are not able to receive corresponding funding from their public and private partners and are stuck in a vicious circle of needing to grow to be able to fund the installation of a turf and needing to install a turf to be able to grow.
FIH has therefore defined the availability of playing surfaces as a priority in facilitating the growth of the sport, especially in smaller NAs.
The More Places to Play Hockey5s Courts project addresses this issue by providing NAs with a free-of-charge turf and technical assistance for installation, decreasing the financial burden for NAs to a much lesser and more manageable amount. Details of goods and services provided and obligations for NAs receiving a More Places to Play Hockey5s Court are available in the MoU document.
