CLASS 3: MONTEVIDEO 2025
Part one of this 1-2 year Performance Coach Award is a face to face course in Montevideo, Uruguay, alongside the PanAm Cup from 28 July to 1 August 2025.

The FIH L4C Performance Coach Award (PCA) is designed for individuals working with senior TOP club or Junior+ National Team Programmes looking to develop their Performance coaching knowledge and skills.

The programme consists of a blend of online, face to face and mentored sessions that support and track candidates through an personal learning journey.


To join this programme, applicants must hold the FIH Level 3 Coaching Certificate or 
equivalent (see below for details).

FIH Academy Courses are recognised globally, however, with 146 FIH member nations, equivalence to National Association qualification and requirements, as well as local laws will vary. For further information please contact your National Association or Continental Federation.

The fee for this course includes the elements listed below. The four online Workshops are NOT included as candidates are encouraged to join different workshops. Candidates joining this course will participate as a cohort of 16 candidates for the duration of the Award programme.

Course Structure

By the end of this course, we hope you are able to:

  • Investigate and apply performance game tactics and strategies
  • Investigate and apply strategies to manage Performance Culture
  • Create and apply a team tournament performance plan
  • Investigate and design a Talent ID & Development plan
  • Understand Leadership strategies and how to apply them
  • Observe, analyse and describe an Elite team`s performance
  • Observe, analyse and describe an Elite player`s performance
In addition, through the four mandatory workshops:
The FIH L4C consists of 8 elements, all of which must be completed in order to be assessed for the Award.

Ordinarily, it is necessary to complete the four online workshops before attending the face to face course.
