What do our young people need from us?

The first part of the masterclass will look at Jimmy's postgraduate research into why some 'talent' make it through to seniors and some don't. This will help coaches do the following:

  • Analyse their own understanding of a talent pathway
  • Assess what kinds of reflections coaches should make when dealing with talent
  • Offer practical advice for coaches and athletes who need support in 'formative years

Part two will take a look at where the game is going and what 'talent' will bring the game in the future. This will be supported by reflections from the Junior World Cups.

  • The era of 'Technical Efficiency' is upon us
  • What adaptions do we need to make to help athletes perform 'skill' at high speeds?

  • Inaugural winners of the Challengers Cup at the Junior World Cup, Santiago 2025
