— FIH MEMBER SERVICES
In 2022, FIH President Tayyab Ikram launched an interim plan to inject equipment, education and experts into National Associations via enhanced CF and FIH Services. The plan is called Empowerment and Engagement, and consists of 4 pillars.

Funding streams including FIH Development Grants, FIH More Places to Play and FIH Academy Hero Education support, in addition to general FIH and CF development activities and external funding from partners such as Olympic Solidarity, has already supported over 70 NAs directly (October 2024).

State of the Game

Every 2 years, the FIH asks all National Associations to complete a State of the Game Survey. We do this for a number of very important reasons.
  • Support - to enable the FIH, CFs and NAs themselves to determine their growth, funding, governance and political status.
  • Accountability - FIH is required to report back to partners, sponsors and supporters (most notably the International Olympic Committee) on the state of hockey as sport.
  • Impact - to enable FIH, CFs and NAs to measure the impact of specific programmes over time.
  • General good governance - it is good practice to measure and share information about the growth of hockey.

Continental Federations 

The FIH supports and is supported in its global mission by 5 Continental Federations, who in turn represent all 146 National Association members at a continental level.

The FIH provides approximately 1 million USD of funding to the 5 CFs annually. CFs are subject to an MoU agreement with the FIH that outlines how the funding may be allocated.

FIH Development Grants

The FIH is pleased to announce the opening of the application period for the 2025 FIH Development Grants, with a focus on Empowerment & Engagement.

Grants are available to support impactful national-level hockey development projects that contribute to the objectives of the FIH Empowerment and Engagement Strategy.

The FIH is looking forward to supporting exciting and impactful projects on all five continents that make a difference in athlete/youth development, coaching, education and capacity building, and thereby in our sport, around the world. Together, we create a brighter future for hockey.

Please share the form link opposite for NAs to complete the grant application and upload all supporting documentation. You may use for all applications OR just the ones you will submit to the FIH Development Panel for consideration.

The following grants are available:
  • Level 1: Five (5) grants of USD 10,000 (For one NA from each continent)

  • Level 2: Seventeen (17) grants of USD 4,000 (for Member NAs from Pan America (4), Africa (4), Europe (3), Asia(3) and Oceania(3).

External Funding

Olympic Solidarity 

The aim of Olympic Solidarity is to provide assistance to all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) for athlete development programmes, in particular those with the greatest needs of it. 

This assistance is achieved through multi-faceted programmes prioritising athlete development, but also training of coaches and sports administrators, and promoting the Olympic values.
